Based around the Railroad Tycoon II engine and interface and taking inspirations from management sims dating back to the original Sim City, Tropico is a world-building game set on the fictional tiny Caribbean island by the same name. You’ll play the role of the island’s ruler, rising to power through a number of possible means - legitimate elections, heir to the throne, installed by the CIA, etc. A variety of different real-world leaders are available to choose from, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Available personas include Fidel Castro, Evita Peron, Manuel Noriega, Augusta Pinochet, even one-hit wonder latin pop singer Lou Bega, among others. Your means of rule can range from heavy-handed militarism to full democracy, though beware - there are many different factions you must aim to please, each with their own often contradictory agendas. Oh well, you can always simply "eliminate" your detractors...
