It may have seemed an unusual decision at the time for Origin to take the highly successful Ultima formula downwards into the vastly overpopulated and highly competitive world of the dungeon adventure - but what a sound once it turned out to be. Although this type of game has been done many times before, rarely has it been with the polish and panache which Richard Garriot usually brings to his work. A real treat - for the eyes and the brain cells alike. Ultima Underworld is a true masterpiece: hugely imaginative, graphically superb, and always playable.
