The fifth game in the Close Combat series takes you back to the D-day invasion as the Allies storm the beaches of Normandy. Play as either the Germans or the Americans and attempt to beat back the opposing side with both infantry and armor – as well as the occasional well-placed air or naval strike, or mortar barrage. Track the progress of your men through a 25-day campaign as they distinguish themselves with acts of bravery or cowardice. As with past games in the Close Combat series, the focus is on individual soldiers and their behavior in real-life combat situations, though with an increased emphasis on infantry over armor when compared with the previous Close Combat 4.
